Playing For Change - "Stand By Me"

This is a fabulous musical mashup by the people at Playing for Change. And don't forget to check out their other videos on YouTube.

Just one regret: being unable to hand out a few bucks to these wonderful street musicians. Next time you see one on a street corner, give him you spare change instead of pretending not to notice.

Twitter is all over the news of late. Cartoonists are having a field day. Daryl Cagle has just added a portfolio of the best cartoons from around the Web:

The Browser Wars

Nice chart from the people at Pixel Labs. Explorer 5 seems doomed. However, it'll be interesting to see whether Explorer 8 can put a dent in Firefox's dominance.

Web Usage Data Outline Map of Knowledge

Fascinating: "When users click from one page to another while looking through online scientific journals, they generate a chain of connections between things they think belong together. Now a billion such 'clickstream events' have been analysed by researchers to map these connections on a grand scale."

Unveiling the "Sixth Sense," game-changing wearable tech

It's the first time I see a collaborator in the audience get a standing ovation at a TED talk. It was well deserved. This presentation of what technology can do is mind-blowing.

4HWW Principles Within a Major Corp

Not sure how this refers to The 4-Hour Workweek (4HWW), but it's worth posting on a cubicle wall as a reminder of how to maintain one's sanity.

The Micro-Sociology of Networks

I agree with Stephen Downes: "This is a very good slide presentation on how networks and sociology. According to David Armano, though technology doesn't change human nature, it changes human behaviour, because it gives us the capacity to communicate effortlessly and instantly. This gives rise to networks, and networks have come increasingly take the place of institutions in the function of major roles in society."

Fuel Use of Various Modes of Transportation

How many gallons of fuel per passenger does it take to cover a distance of 350 miles? The answer may surprise you, depending on the means of transportation.

Although I wouldn't travel 350 miles on foot or on a bike, I'm happy that I also take the city bus and the train for longer distances.
